昨シーズンまで埼玉パナソニックワイルドナイツでプレーし、今季からリコーブラックラムズ 東京でプレーする、元ウェールズ代表のCTBハドレー・パークス。
シーズン序盤に苦戦し、徐々に立ち直り、第11節の神戸戦に勝利して3連勝、順位も6位まで上がってきたチームの状況を聞いた。

また時差の都合で録画して早朝にシックスネーションズを見ているというパークスに、セレクションルール変更などウェールズ代表の現況についても聞いた。

Former Wales international CTB Hadleigh Parkes, who played for Panasonic until last season and is playing for Ricoh this season. We asked him how the team is doing after struggling early in the season, gradually bouncing back, winning three in a row with a win against Kobe in the 11th round and climbing up to sixth in the table. We also asked Parkes, who records and watches the Six Nations early in the morning due to the time difference, about the current state of the Welsh team , including the changes to the selection rules.

How do you feel this game today?


試合は本当にいい試合だった。タイトなゲームだった。両チームとも、あちこちでボールを奪い合っていました。良いトライもあったし、良いブレイクダウンもあったし、とても良いディフェンスも見せてくれたし、おそらく両チームとも本当に勝ちたかったんだと思う。ラッキーなことに、私たちは今、リーグワンの中で右肩上がりになっていて、ファンのために良いパフォーマンスをすることができ、良い方向に向かっていると思っています。

The game was a really good game. It was a tight game. Both teams are checking all around. There were some good tries for it I think some good breakdowns something show some very good defensive player as well and was going there probably both teams really wanted to win and and fortunately for us we now see you know come out on the right side of the League One and yeah and put a good performance in for our fans that would go in the right direction which is nice.

――シーズンも半ばを過ぎました。序盤はなかなか勝てなかったですが今日は３連勝しました。チームは成長しましたか？


Halfway of the season has passed. You guys struggled to win early in the season, but today you won three in a row. How has the team improved?


ダイナボアーズとの初戦で何度かチャンスを作りました。ただ、それをものにすることができなかった。そして、相手は後半、私たちの前に立ちはだかり、本当に主導権を握り、チャンスに得点を積み重ねることができたと思います。つまり、私たちはもともとアタックはよかったし、私たちの守備は格段に良くなっているのです。


You know this kind of season, we actually made some chances against Mitsubishi in their very first game. We just didn't convert. And then they converted and got put up with us under a preposition in the second-half. Just that was in the first half. second-half, they really took control and I think now is what was we computing those points in those chances. I mean there we were on attack and our defense has come a long way.


そして、最初の2試合で負け、次の2試合で勝ったのです。4連敗してしまったのです。サンゴリアス との試合は、タイトな試合だったしこのチャンスもあった。
私たちは正しい方向に進んでいると思うし、拍車がかかっているのだと思う。来週もビッグゲームになりそうです。相手（静岡ブルーレヴズ）はハードなラグビーをたくさんプレーしている。だからタフなチャレンジになるだろうし、でもエキサイティングだ。チーム内は本当にいい雰囲気だし、選手たちはもちろん、コーチもマネジメント陣も、すべてがうまくいっていて、とてもいい感じです。


And like we lost those first two games we won two games. We lost four on the bounce. You know that was against you know we could have been in Suntory you know the tight game we had our chance here so there's a couple of performances in there that were close but you know unfortunately we lost. So you know we seem to be going in the right direction and it's a beat. It's gonna be a big game next week. Actually they're playing a lot of hard rugby. So it's gonna be a tough challenge and you know but it's exciting one, you know, it's good. You know, it's really good feeling within the group and and any good vibes. So the boys are boys, coaches, management, you know it's all going very well which is nice.
